Embracing vs reverse: why the way a road or river curves matters
The same curve can be auspicious or cautionary in traditional feng shui, depending on which side a home sits. Here is the distinction.
The embracing (concave) side
When a road or body of water curves around a home on its concave side, traditional practice reads it as embracing and gathering — the favourable Jade Belt formation.
The reverse (convex) side
On the opposite, convex side, the curve turns its back on the home and is read as letting energy slide away — the Reverse Bow formation, treated with more caution.
Same curve, different reading
Because a single bend has both an embracing and a reverse side, two neighbours on the same curve can have very different readings. This is why DaoShu Energy checks which side a property sits on.
