The five elements (五行) in your home

Wood, fire, earth, metal, and water — the five elements are the vocabulary traditional feng shui uses to describe balance. Here is a plain-language introduction.

Five qualities, not five materials

The five elements are best understood as five qualities or phases of energy, not literal materials. Traditional practice uses them to describe how different parts of a home relate, support, or counter one another.

Generating and countering

The elements follow a generating cycle (for example wood feeds fire) and a countering cycle (water tempers fire). Many traditional remedies simply introduce the element that mediates a perceived clash — such as wood between water and fire.

Why it appears in our reports

When DaoShu Energy describes a 'remedy direction', it is pointing to the element traditionally used to balance a formation — a cultural-reference suggestion, not a prescription.

Cultural reference: This article is a cultural-reference explanation based on traditional Chinese feng shui (a form of metaphysical cultural study). It is not medical, financial, investment, or property advice.
